On August 17, 2017, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) the regulatory agency that regulates conforming loans has extended The Home Affordable Refinance Program commonly known as HARP. HARP enables homeowners who currently have conventional loans with balances higher than what the property is worth refinance their current conventional loans with no appraisal or income required. To be eligible for the Home Affordable Refinance Program, the homeowners current mortgage loan needs to be owned by Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac.
